Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) are exciting technologies that offer considerable potential benefits in all stages of the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) process, from initial planning and conceptual design to facility management and operations. VR and AR allow people to see and interact with a building or infrastructure design and construction process prior to it being constructed. This year International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) is planning to jointly organised this conference in Malaysia together with Teesside University, Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) and Multimedia Development Corporation (MDEC). This is the first time that such a prestigious event bringing together the international specialist and expert in this growing area being brought to Malaysia.
The mission of this conference is to bring together researchers and practitioners from all areas of the construction industry in the world and promote efficient exchange of ideas and develop mutual understanding of needs and potential applications of VR modelling in the built environment. CONVR 2008 will bring together researchers and practitioners in all areas of the Architecture, Engineering and Construction Industry to promote the exchange of ideas for applying VR and AR. It is hope that this awaited event will provide exposure to members of the academia and industry on the potentials and current development in VR technology and its application.
